Validation Center (WG-02) evolution
The figures speak for themselves: 8 operational validation platforms (with 2 more incoming) and 22 workloads validated (from 15 different vendors) demonstrate the success and the scope of Sylva’s Validation Center over these years.

The workloads validation cycle has been evolving from the very beginning including new activities that add value for both Sylva project and the community vendors:
- Setting up validation platforms.
- Validating installation of workload clusters.
- Validating deployment of workloads on top of Sylva stack in different configurations.
- Validating adoption of cloud native principles by workloads.
- Validating adoption of cloud security principles by workloads.
- Validating in service software upgrade by workloads.
Some of these activities involve collaboration between Validation Center (WG-02) and other working groups within Sylva (e.g. Security Requirements (WG-03)), or with other Linux Foundation projects such as CNTi which accelerate the Cloud Native adoption in the community.
Sylva Developer Day 2026, Amsterdam
As the validation cycle consists of many complex activities, Validation Center (WG-02) is aiming now to automate them, driving to shorter and repeatable validation cycles that allow to validate each workload over the different K8s distributions (RKE2, Canonical K8s and RedHat OKD) and the different underlying infrastructures supported in Sylva (BareMetal, OpenStack and OpenNebula IaaS) more efficiently.
At Sylva Developer Day 2026 in Amsterdam, we presented the status of these automations in a demo. During the demo a full CI/CD toolchain was deployed in Telefónica’s laboratory, running a test campaign composed of:
- All the health check tests from Anuket Functest Kubernetes
- The Container Network Interface (CNI) tests developed by Sylva, now fully integrated into Anuket Functest Kubernetes
- The Cloud Native Telecom Initiative (CNTI) Test Suite, used to validate a telco application’s adherence to cloud native principles and best practices
Some of the key messages obtained from the demo are:
- Thanks to XtestingCI, it’s easy to deploy the Sylva Validation Center (WG-02) toolchain anywhere to validate Sylva Clusters and/or cloud-native network functions
- Both Sylva-conformant distributions and CNF vendors should validate their products on their own premises before any upstream validation
- Thanks to Anuket Xtesting, we will continue to expand the list of test cases executed in our CI/CD pipelines

What’s next
Our session during Sylva Developer Day was very fruitful with many questions that drove us to interesting discussions. From these discussions we have many takeaways to continue improving the way that the validation activities are performed, automating the whole validation cycle from the workload cluster creation to the generation of the validation report.
